The Recording Academy has made some exciting changes for the 2026 Grammys, including new categories and rule adjustments. One of the most notable changes is that artists who contributed to an Album of the Year-nominated record can now be considered for Best New Artist, provided their contributions didn't exceed 20%. This opens up exciting opportunities for emerging artists! Additionally, the Academy has introduced two new categories: Best Traditional Country Album and Best Album Cover, bringing the total number of Grammy categories to 95. Best Country Album has been renamed Best Contemporary Country Album, and Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package has been merged back into the Best Recording Package category.
