Attention all foodies and Thanksgiving enthusiasts! Prepare for a mouthwatering twist on a classic holiday feast. Michigan's B-Dogs Specialty Hot Dogs is serving up a unique and affordable treat that will have you questioning everything you thought you knew about Thanksgiving dinner.
In a bold move, this beloved Michigan restaurant has crafted a hot dog that embodies the essence of Thanksgiving, and it's available for less than $4! But here's where it gets controversial... they've taken inspiration from a frozen pizza!
Owner Tim Bishop shares, "This dog is a hit, and I have to admit, it's pretty amazing." He first created the "Holiday Dog" last November, and it's become a popular favorite among locals. The inspiration struck when Bishop saw DiGiorno's Thanksgiving pizza, and he thought, "That's a hot dog waiting to happen!"
The "Holiday Dog" is a masterpiece in itself. It features a Koegel hot dog on a bun, topped with Stove Top stuffing, turkey gravy, and cranberry sauce. All for just $3.49! Bishop adds, "Stove Top is a great substitute for real dressing, and it makes this hot dog a true Thanksgiving experience." He goes on to say, "Every bite is like eating your entire Thanksgiving meal."
B-Dogs has been a staple in Genesee County for nearly 14 years, offering a variety of creative hot dog options. Bishop started by selling pretzels and hot dogs at local parades and carnivals in Davison. Now, they've expanded with a brick-and-mortar location, offering 22 hot dog options, including seasonal specialties like the "Holiday Dog."
But why hot dogs? Bishop shares a heartwarming story of his childhood, where he and his brother would join their grandfather at Angelo's in Flint for coney dogs. It was a special tradition, creating fond memories. "Grandpa always had a great time, and he loved spending time with us over a couple of hot dogs." This sentiment is reflected in Bishop's pricing strategy, keeping costs low to ensure everyone can enjoy a hearty meal.
"Everybody loves a hot dog," Bishop says. "You can get a loaded dog with all the fixings for just $3.49, or a combo for $10. It's a great, satisfying meal that won't weigh you down."
B-Dogs Specialty Hot Dogs is open Monday to Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Visit their Facebook page for more information. And this is the part most people miss... this unique Thanksgiving hot dog experience is not just a meal, it's a taste of tradition and community.
